*formula on the first meeting or upon asking for a favor
lit. "be good [please]"
used on the first meeting, usu. after saying hajimiti; or to politely express one's ambiguous expectation or implicit request, usu. after asking for a favor: Japanese eq. yoroshiku [onegaishimasu].
In Japanese, yoroshiku alone can casually stand for this message, but it is more polite to append onegaishimasu or onegai-itashimasu (eq. please). It somehow functions as a magic word and safe to use in many occasions.
